Phillip W. Majerus, M.D.
Dr. Majerus, a Member of the National Academy of Sciences, is co-director of the Division of Hematology at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Majerus has served as President of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. A past Editor of the Journal of Clinical Investigation, he is currently a Member of the Editorial Board for The Journal of Biological Chemistry. Dr. Majerus received his M.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Washington University School of Medicine.
Arnold Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith is Director of Bacterial Pathogenesis at the Seattle Biomedical Research Insitute. Dr. Smith was formerly Professor and Chairman of the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was an inventor of one of the two drugs currently on the market for the treatment for respiratory symptoms of cystic fibrosis, aerosolized tobramycin (Tobi®™), for which he also helped in the development of the aerosol formulation. He has participated in the design of several clinical trial protocolsof Pulmozyme for Genentech.
Craig Gerard, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr Gerard is a professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and chief of the Division of Respiratory Diseases, Childrens Hospital of Boston. Dr. Gerard's research interests are focused on the molecular mechanisms by which leukocytes traffic in host defense and inflammatory responses. Particular focus is concentrated on the family of G protein coupled receptors that serve to direct migration of leukocytes in both the basal and inflamed state. Implications of his research for the development of therapeutics involves many disease states.
Herbert Waldmann, Ph.D.
Dr. Waldmann is the Director at the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology Dortmund, Department of Chemical Biology and a Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Dortmund. He serves on the editorial board of a variety of professional journals including Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions, ChemBioChem, Chemical Reviews and Molecules Online. His expertise in medicinal chemistry has enabled him to serve as a consultant for several major pharmaceutical companies.
